The winning work was “Wired,” choreographed for UF Dance by Israeli guest artist Yaniv Abraham during Swamp Dance Festival 2011, directed by Assistant Professor Neta Pulvermacher. Exquisitely designed by SoTD students Ryan Bible (lighting) and Erica Bascom (costumes), “Wired” was breathtakingly performed at the American College Dance Festival Southeastern Conference by the following UF dancers: Emma Geisdorf, Joey Loto, Lacey Moore, Kendra Hamann, Sarah Haggerty, Marissa Maxcy, Kyle Mosler, Melissa Mendez, and Whitney Wilson. Whitney Wilson, whose original work “Watched Pots” was adjudicated for presentation at this year’s ACDF Southeastern conference, masterfully served as rehearsal director for “Wired.”
A special thanks from Professor Joan Frosch to all SoTD dancers who participated in the creation, performances of this extraordinary piece of choreography; and to students Fallon Sullivan, Kate Pope, and Lindsey Head who so generously shared their aesthetic insights into the work. A big SHOUT to visiting SoTD faculty Kristin O’Neal and Colette Krugol for safely sheparding our group of 33 UF dancers to triumph at the American College Dance Festival Southeastern Conference.
At this time we remember Paul Favini for his support of the production of new choreographic work for SoTD, his admiration and love for dance, and his steadfast support of the Swamp Dance Fest.
